Principal’s Message

Hello West Campus Families,

We are approaching the midpoint of the third quarter – teachers will be submitting deficiencies shortly.  Please continue to monitor your student’s progress on Infinite Campus and Google Classroom as we get further into the second semester.

Look for the school district to send out more information about school reopening in the coming weeks.  As I understand the options, families will have the option to keep students in a distance learning setting  – families will also have the option to select the hybrid model.  The hybrid model, as it has currently been proposed, would have two days a week on campus and three days a week in distance learning.  Teachers would teach students who are in the classroom, while the students not in the classroom would connect to the lesson via zoom.

We have begun discussion with our teachers to begin planning what this hybrid model of instruction will look like and we will share more details as the they become available to allow each family to make a decision based on the most accurate information.

Additionally, this week we will continue our preparations of the physical site to prepare for students to return.  All hallways will be designated as one-way traffic, students will all enter through the same entrance to take their temperature as they arrive on campus.  As we solidify our set up and finalize our procedures, we will develop videos to prepare students to be on site.

Thank you,

John McMeekin

Self-Care Corner: Reflection from James Doolittle C/O 2022

Hello Warriors,

I hope everyone’s having a solid start to March. My March has started off with plenty of introspection that inspired this week’s topic, which is an important component of many people’s mental health. While we are more social than ever having seemingly endless connectivity to our friends and family online, too many people who are loved feel unappreciated and too many words are left unsaid. My call to action for this week: tell the people in your life who are important to you just how important they are! Not everybody gets to hear these things as much as they deserve and all we can do is show them that they are cared and loved. Please spend time today to do the following:

Option #1: Verbally share with a  loved one why you love, value, and appreciate them.

Option #2: write a letter, email, or sticky note to a loved one and send it to them.

Option #3: exercise your own self-care by positively affirming yourself. An example of this would be looking at yourself in the mirror and listing 3-5 positive attributes about yourself. You can also write yourself a letter or sticky note to remind yourself of your resilience and strength during these unprecedented times.

Senior-Freshman Buddies: Thank You

Post

WCHS administration would like to thank ASB students for organizing and implementing some exciting activities for freshman-buddy week. We appreciate the c/o2021 for taking time to mentor a member of the c/o 2024. It is evident, from the pictures below, that students had a great time competing for the grand prize!
