Hello West Campus Families,

Happy Mothers Day!!!  Students, make sure to make your mom feel special and appreciated today!

In order to support graduation attendance, we are using a different exam schedule in comparison to previous years.  Please click here to see the schedule and exam days for 9th through 11th grade students.  We will have exams on Friday, June 9, 2023, Monday, June 12, 2023, and Tuesday, June 13, 2023.  This move will push the senior awards and senior breakfast to Thursday, June 8, 2023.  Look for a detailed senior exam schedule next week.

This week, we will test our juniors and seniors for the state accountability.  Each senior will have one test session and each junior will have four test sessions.  These tests are untimed and we will provide extra time on the week of May 22, 2023 for student to complete testing.  The testing schedule can be found here, student will report to their designated testing locations at the designated time.

We are moving our final “Lunch with your Warrior” day to June 2, 2023.

Please continue reading for many updates:

Thank you,

John McMeekin – Principal

Week 5: Intersectionality

Post

Legal scholar Kimberlé Crenshaw coined the term “intersectionality” in 1989 to describe how systems of oppression overlap to create distinct experiences for people with multiple identity categories. Although intersectional theory and activism today are far-flung and embrace a wide variety of people, Crenshaw began with Black women, whose oppression couldn’t be encompassed exclusively with the terms “racism” or “sexism,” if they were framed as an either/or proposition.
