Library Services

Overview

West Campus Library Services empower students and staff to become enthusiastic readers, critical thinkers, skillful researchers, and ethical users of information. To accomplish this, we do the following:

  • Provide resource-rich library environments that encourage curiosity and learning.
  • Curate collections of a rich mix of resources that align with curriculum and student interests.
  • Collaborate with teachers in instructional planning to support personalized learning.
  • Offer engaging programs to connect students and staff with authors, partner organizations, and enrichment opportunities.

The West Campus Library is located in room 38. Stop by and introduce yourself to Ms. Nelson!

Welcome from Ms. Denise Nelson

Post

I am very excited to join the West Campus High School community as Librarian. Born in Sacramento, I was raised in the remote Yukon Territory, Canada. I returned to Sacramento, went to college, got married, earned my teaching credential, and had a child.  I volunteered in my daughter’s class, tutored reading, and became a library prep teacher at the elementary school. I learned on the job but then got my Library Media Teaching Credential. I have been in the library ever since, almost 20 years, which suits me since I’ve always loved to read.
