Sacramento City Unified School Board policy 6146.1 states in their AR 6146.1 (6): Students are to be scheduled six periods each semester for at least their first seven semesters in order to complete the 225 credits required for graduation. 12th grade students in the last semester before graduation, shall be enrolled in at least five courses or a minimum of four courses on campus combined with education programs and/or work experience programs equivalent to the approved high school course of study. 

Education Code 46145 allows students to participate in the following off campus academic/instructional programs that might require students to shorten their school day: Dual Enrollment (community college), Independent Study, and Work Experience. 
 
Please submit the form (attached) to your counselor as soon as possible, if you plan to take 5 classes instead of six classes in Spring.
