Welcome from Ms. Denise Nelson

Post

I am very excited to join the West Campus High School community as Librarian. Born in Sacramento, I was raised in the remote Yukon Territory, Canada. I returned to Sacramento, went to college, got married, earned my teaching credential, and had a child.  I volunteered in my daughter’s class, tutored reading, and became a library prep teacher at the elementary school. I learned on the job but then got my Library Media Teaching Credential. I have been in the library ever since, almost 20 years, which suits me since I’ve always loved to read. I am always thrilled to see a student reading who may also have discovered the magic of books, now in a high school library!

I like helping people but am just as happy hiking along the American River with just my camera. I garden and volunteer as a “weed warrior” with the American River Parkway Foundation. My travels have included Mexico, Spain, Portugal, France, Amsterdam, Italy, Greece, and Australia. I travel to many more places in books and my imagination.
