Congrats, Tyler Pierson!

Post

We are delighted to announce that a member of the West Campus Class of 2022 has become a licensed private pilot, just a few days after his 17th birthday!

Tyler Pierson spent more than 70 hours of flight and ground instruction before passing his FAA Practical Test, which includes an oral portion lasting up to three hours and a flight portion lasting up to two hours. Tyler’s flight instructor proudly announced the high school junior’s accomplishment, “It was my unique pleasure to have given instruction to this very intelligent, hardworking, young man and exemplary citizen.”

Last spring, we announced that Tyler flew solo in a Cessna 150 four times in one week and won a $10,000 Ray Aviation Scholarship through the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA).

Congratulations to Tyler and his family for these remarkable achievements. Your West Campus family is very proud of you!
